Thanksgiving – An Expression of Home

Every year around this time we are reminded to be thankful for those special people in our lives. It seems like such a simple endeavor, but takes a holiday to force us to take a moment from our busy lives and just say “thank you.” As you’re preparing your home for guests this coming Thursday, here are some simple ways to create the perfect experience and a rememberable day.

Simple and personalized decor. There are so many ways we can make our guests feel welcome. The idea of personalizing place settings is so simple, yet makes everyone feel special.

Decorating the table for the holiday doesn’t have to be a big deal. Some simple flowers and fall foliage might be all you really need. Remember to keep the table scape lower to encourage conversation across the table. Simple and elegant is my motto.

I love the simple and structured nature of this table scape. Nothing overdone, but has real impact.

Cooking from the heart. Have you noticed how dinner parties have turned into potlucks? I’m not sure why, but the art of throwing a dinner party seems to have changed, and not necessarily for the better. There is no better way to say “thanks” to the people you love than preparing a meal to remember. I’m a firm believer that the love you put into your cooking makes everything taste better.
